EI Bike Magazine to Strengthen Our Cycling Community

There is no better cycling in the entire country than right here in Eastern Idaho. Smothered in sun and dressed in beautiful mountains, rivers and sub-alpine fir the scenic tranquility of Eastern Idaho is unsurpassed.

For years Idaho has been the country's number one hot-spot for quality cycling, earning top honors (A rating) from the International Mountain Bike Associations (IMBA) community two years in a row. Most notable about Idaho are its plentiful riding areas and absence of crowds, making it number one to many bikers throughout the nation.

When I moved here (2 years ago) to attend Idaho State University, I was amazed by these wonderful things and was forever hooked. Everything a cyclist could dream of was here, big climbs, tight single track, long epic rides and fast down hills. Everything for both the mountain biker and the road rider. But still, one thing seemed to be missing: a strong cycling community. Certainly there were a good handful of other cyclists; but the feeling of being a part of something bigger just wasn't here.

Shortly after my arrival I took on a quest to organize a cycling club at the university. I wanted to create a "community" to give new students, like myself, a place to belong. It was a big hit and has grown accordingly, filing the cycling gap for people at the school. In many aspects that same quest has brought yet another stronghold to our local cyclists: Eastern Idaho Bike Magazine a publication for the cyclists of Eastern Idaho.

The publication will deliver local, regional and state news with specific coverage on the following types of riding: Mountain bikers, Down Hill riders, Roadies and BMX racers. 3 issues are planned, spring, summer and fall, for the first year, each written by community riders and focusing on topics that affect us.

In addition, we plan to have rider profiles, community forum page, event calendar, bike shop reviews, informative web pages, nutritional aids, classified ads, maintenance tips and trail/ route reviews. To make each issue is interesting all area riders are encouraged to submit contributions to his to or her specific genera.

Eastern Idaho Bike Magazine is your magazine and is intended to promote cycling as a healthy, environmentally sound form of transportation and recreation. Through this medium we hope to strengthen the lives of cyclist in our area and increase community awareness to your needs.
